Cross To Bear
Last night I dreamt about you, when you were 6 years old,
You were pounding at the window, locked outside in the cold.
I opened up the door, and you came rushing in,
Behind you, you were dragging Santa Claus by the hand.
He took off his red coat, and he turned into Jesus,
He said, "Don't it seem like sometimes life just wants to crucify us?"
We all have our cross to bear,
And this pain you feel, I'd gladly share,
Some roads you'll have to walk alone.
I know you can make it on your own.
'Cause whatever hell you're going through,
Always feel my love surrounding you.
We have an instinct, to protect our children,
And although we may try to, we can't live their lives for them.
We've got to let them stumble, we've got to let them hurt,
We've got to let them learn, to pick themselves up from the dirt.
And it's hard to stand by, and watch them as they ache,
But to make them strong, we've got to let them make their own mistakes.
Chorus
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,
All good children go to heaven,
But somewhere along the way,
There is always hell to pay...
Whatever you believe in, believe in love.
It's always there for the asking, and you can never have too much.
You receive it when you give it, and you give when you receive.
It's the only thing that's constant, whatever you believe.
Chorus

A Lady Like You

A Lady Like You
Cocktail party, it's really not my style.
This old country boy feels out of place, in this fancy suit and tie.
I look up and I see you, and somehow your eyes meet mine.
I'd like to walk right up and introduce myself, but one thing's troubling' my mind.
How do I talk to a lady like you?
How do I come on to you, honey, tell me, what do I do?
What can I say that you've never heard before? If only I knew,
How to talk to a lady like you.
Well here goes nothin'. Guess it's time to make my move.
Just like good Kentucky whiskey, I try to come on soft and smooth.
I must be doin' something right, if I can make this angel smile.
But even as we're slowly dancing, I can't help thinking all the while,
How do I talk to a lady like you? … (Chorus)
We've been married seven years now,
This country boy's done real well.
But even now, when I look at you,
I still can't help thinking' to myself,
How do I talk to a lady like you? … (Chorus)

Fine Wine
Remember that first evening,
A table for two by the bay?
Our eyes met as you poured the wine,
I shyly glanced away.
We watched the red sun setting,
The very first time we danced.
Its red flames teased the ocean,
Oooo, the start of romance!
Our love is like a fine wine, (a fine wine, darling),
It just keeps getting better. (Better and better),
It's so much sweeter every time,
That we make love together, (darlin')
Our love is like a fine wine,
Let's make it last forever.
Tonight the candle by the wineglass,
Is sparkling in your eyes.
Your soft smile fills the room and makes me,
Feel all warm inside.
Since the very first time I held you,
I've just kept wanting more.
So let your love come pouring down,
Like so many times before.
Our love is like a fine wine....
So turn on the soft music,
Darlin' turn down the lights,
And fill me with your love again,
And hold me, (hold me), darlin' hold me,
Through the night.
Our love is like a fine wine.....
Let's make it last forever.

CHRISTMAS TURKEY
Well I’ve been workin’ in the kitchen since the early mornin’ light,
Cookin’ and bakin’ and you know I do it right.
There’s pumpkin pie and stuffin’ and the turkey sure smells fine,
Except for you everybody’s here. They know it’s dinner time!
Christmas turkey,
Sittin’ on the table waitin’ for you.
Well that’s one big bird,
But you’re the biggest turkey I ever knew!
I know you love your football and your TV watchin’ friends,
Drinkin’ beer and makin’ bets on which team’s gonna win.
There’s football, baseball, basketball, hockey or a boxin’ match.
But once a year I’d like you here, is that too much to ask?
Christmas turkey,
Sittin’ on the table waitin’ for you.
Well that’s one big bird,
But you’re the biggest turkey I ever knew!
Christmas turkey, that's what you are.
Oh, you Christmas turkey, uh huh, honey, yes you are.
You do the same thing every year so, guess what I did?
I invited my friend Suzie and her seven hungry kids.
We’re startin’ now without you, and by the time that you get home,
There won’t be nothin’ left but some old turkey skin and bones!
Christmas turkey,
Won't be sittin’ on the table waitin’ for you.
Well that was one big bird,
But the world's biggest turkey must be you!
Christmas turkey…
